IndiGo is facing fresh turbulence as a group of its pilots has released a strongly worded open letter accusing the airline’s top leadership of mismanagement, poor work culture, and ignoring employee concerns. The pilots claim that the ongoing crisis is a direct result of weak leadership, lack of genuine talent in senior roles, and what they call a culture driven by greed and the belief that the airline is “too big to fail.”

According to the letter, severely understaffed ground operations have been functioning under extreme pressure, with some ground staff reportedly earning only ₹18,000 per month while performing the work of three people. The pilots say this has led to low morale, burnout, and operational stress across departments.

The letter also makes a controversial reference to a 70-year-old senior leader within the airline, accusing him of refusing to retire despite the mounting crisis. The pilots argue that outdated leadership thinking and an unwillingness to bring in new talent have worsened the situation and damaged the airline’s reputation.

The pilots claim they have repeatedly tried to raise issues related to staffing, scheduling, and safety concerns but allege that their feedback was dismissed. They say the current atmosphere in the airline is one of fear, with employees worried about speaking out or challenging existing policies.

IndiGo has not yet issued an official response to the explosive allegations. However, industry observers say the letter highlights deeper structural issues within the airline and reflects the growing frustration among employees who have been dealing with operational disruptions in recent months.

As the situation unfolds, all eyes are on IndiGo’s leadership to see whether they will address the concerns raised or continue to face internal dissent that could impact operations and customer experience.
