Renowned Indian sprinter and the Padma Shri award winner Milkha Singh(91) died on Friday night while undergoing treatment for Covid-19. His family members confirmed this. He was infected with the virus on May 20 and his family members admitted him to a hospital. He has been receiving treatment in the hospital ever since. He has set rare records in running competitions. Also, he bagged two gold medals at the 1958 National Games.
In 1959, the Central govt of India awarded the Padma Shri to Milka Singh. On the other hand, Milka’s wife Nirmal Kaur died last week while undergoing treatment for Covid-19.
Milkha Singh was born on 20 November 1932 in Govindpur, Punjab(Pakistan). He was hailed from a Sikh Rathod Rajput family.
