Indian Railways draws most of its revenue from the transportation of the goods. After lock down, the transportation sector all across the nation slowed down and there is lot of stock at the producers waiting to be transported to the destinations. As the lock down got released and the nation is speeding up the economy, Indian Railways came up with an innovative thought of starting Cargo Express services.
Companies opting for this service will have faster goods transfer time and the minimum charge for transportation per ton is Rs.2500. The charge depends on the distance, material and other factors. These services will begin on August 5th and the Indian Railways is aiming to experiment this service for 6 months before taking a permanent decision.
It is known that Indian Railways is undergoing several changes and the Government is planning to privatize the services. Employees of Indian Railways expressed their opposition to some extent but the Government is considering improving the infrastructure while privatizing the services.
