12 years after winning the Champions Trophy (the original T20 format) in 2013, india has finally overhauled the 50-over format trophy this year. India beat New Zealand in what turned out to be a close finish finale game a short while back.
After being set a target of 252, India had a pretty strong thanks to Rohit Sharma. But New Zealand exerted pressure in the middle overs through tight spin bowling.
However, India managed to hold their nerve in the end and successfully completed the run chase in the 49th over, courtesy of a boundary by Ravindra Jadeja.
In the end, India won the game by a margin of 4 wickets and lifted the Champions Trophy after 12 long years. This caps off what has been an immaculate run by the boys in blue for the last couple of years.
After the gutting defeat in the 2023 World Cup, India partially redeemed with the T20 World Cup win last year and capped it off with the Champions Trophy win this year.
Captain Rohit Sharma was pretty good with the bat and his quick knock proved to be the difference between the two sides.
