India achieved a new milestone in its Coronavirus vaccination drive by giving over 1 crore doses on Friday, its highest single-day count so far.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to Twitter to congratulate the people for making the vaccination drive a success.
“Record vaccination numbers today! Crossing 1 crore is a momentous feat. Kudos to those getting vaccinated and those making the vaccination drive a success,” he tweeted.
World Health Organization (WHO) chief scientist Dr Soumya Swaminathan has also lauded India for achieving this rare feat ahead of concerns of another surge in infections.
So far, India has administered about 621 million doses of vaccine, providing at least one dose to over half of its 940 million adults.
According to the data in CoWIN portal, more than 14 crore people in India have received both doses of Coronavirus vaccines.
