The tally of coronavirus variant Omicron has reached 781 in India. The highly transmissible variant of concern has now spread to 21 states in the country.
Delhi has the highest number of newly detected variant cases, with 238 cases, followed by Maharashtra with 167 cases. Gujarat has 73 cases, while Kerala and Telangana have reported 65 and 62 cases respectively. The Omicron variant was first detected in South Africa in November.
Meanwhile, India has reported 9,195 fresh Coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours, which is 44% higher than yesterday’s 6,358 cases. The recovery rate is currently at 98.40 per cent, the highest since March 2020. Nearly 7,347 people have recovered in the last 24 hours. The tally of recovered people reached 3,42,51,292. The active caseload stands at 77,002.
On the other side, more than 143 crore COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered in India.
