In an alarming development, India has seen a massive jump in daily Coronavirus cases over the last 24 hours. According to the data revealed by the Union health ministry Thursday morning, the country has reported 90,928 new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours. Also, 325 more people died with the infection in a day, taking the nationwide toll to 4,82,876.
Meanwhile, the Omicron tally stands at 2,630 in the country. The fast-spreading variant has spread to 26 states and the most cases were reported in Maharashtra with 797, followed by Delhi with 465 cases.
The active caseload in the country has risen to 2,85,401. India has witnessed a jump of over 56% in daily cases, with several states including Delhi, Maharashtra, West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh and Kerala recording an exponential rise in Covid-19 cases. In view of the rising cases, many states have announced restrictions like night curfew to curb the spread of the virus.
