India has broken the previous record in the distribution of the Covid-19 vaccine. On August 27, the country hit the milestone of administering over 1 crore vaccine doses in a single day for the first time. Now, India broke this record in just five days.
As per Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya, more than 1.9 doses of Coronavirus vaccination were provided by 6 pm on Tuesday, with the count expected to go higher.
This is the second time the single-day vaccination tally crossed the 1 crore mark in less than a week. Yet this number is likely to increase further as the vaccination process continues today.
So far, 65,03,29,061 people across the country have been vaccinated. Of these, 50,12,44,855 took the first dose and 14,90,84,406 completed the second dose.
The Health Ministry said that 5,42,30,546 balance and unutilised Covid-19 vaccine doses are still available with states and UTs.
