India batsman Shreyas Iyer has achieved a rare feat today that he became the 16th Indian batter to score a century on Test debut. He smashed a brilliant century against New Zealand in Kanpur on Friday and he reached the three-figure mark off 157 balls.
Shreyas Iyer, who had a dream start to his Test career, received his Test cap from Sunil Gavaskar on Day 1. Lala Amarnath, Deepak Shodhan, AG Kripal Singh, Abbas Ali Baig, Hanumant Singh, Gundappa Vishwanath, Surender Amarnath, Mohammad Azharuddin, Pravin Amre, Sourav Ganguly, Virender Sehwag, Suresh Raina, Shikhar Dhawan, Rohit Sharma and Prithvi Shaw are the other 15 Indian batsmen to have scored a hundred on their Test debut.
Meanwhile, Team India was all out for 345 in the first innings of the first Test against New Zealand. India started the second day on Friday with an overnight score of 258/4, scoring another 87 runs and losing the remaining six wickets.
Southee, who had conceded just one wicket on the first day, took four more wickets this morning. Before the lunch break, Ashwin swung the bat to put India on 339/8.
