YSRC Government is aiming to raise the number of districts in AP from 13 to 25. As a part of this proposal, Vizag alias Vishakapatnam is said to be divided into 3 districts. One part of it will be the main city of Vizag while the other two will be Araku and Anakapalle.
Meanwhile, the tribal from Araku have been raising concerns over splitting the region between four districts. Currently Araku and the related tribal region has been in East Godavari, Vishakapatnam, Vizianagaram and Srikakulam. Girijana Association which has been working on the welfare of the tribal people in these regions has demanded a separate district with the name Alluri Seetharama Raju.
YSRC Government is taking inputs from all the associations and will be revealing their opinion mostly by September. The reason for the split in the number of districts is for ease of governance and to address issues at rapid pace. We have to wait for some more time to know more about this aspect. Stay tuned!
