Cost of living and quality of life are the main factors that determine the development of the region. India is still a developing countries in spite of low cost of living is due to the low quality of life. Delhi is facing severe air pollution problem and the other major cities too were in almost the same situation.
Pollution through industries and other manufacturing related sources is one factor while pollution through vehicles is another one. Even though Indians are paying high rates for fuel, the quality that is being delivered is mediocre. Adding to this, few petrol bunks offer fake petrol and this turns the situation more worse. In Kukatpally region of Hyderabad, a HP petrol bunk offered fake petrol to the customers. Police case has been registered on the petrol bunk after a customer complained on the same.
In developed countries, it is hard to see smoke from vehicles while in India it is common to see the smoke. Not just the low quality petrol but also the pollution control from the vehicle manufacturer side too is not up to the mark. When Indian government is making rules strict for the vehicle owners, why can’t the government make rules strict for the petrol bunks and the vehicle manufacturers?
People are not paying high taxes and high fuel prices for the low quality goods. If we consider the quality vs cost, India doesn’t rank better in cost of living. Time for the government to think and implement rules if the air pollution all over the nation has to be controlled.
