Hyderabad Police recently cracked one of the biggest movie piracy rackets in recent times. After this breakthrough, the police organized a high-level meeting with Telugu film industry members including heroes, producers, exhibitors, and digital distribution partners. The aim was to explain how the crimes were done and what precautions should be taken in the future.
During the meeting, officials explained two main methods of piracy found in the investigation. In the first method, criminals secretly recorded movies inside theaters using mobile phones. In the second method, cybercriminals hacked digital distribution systems even before movie release. They illegally accessed and copied original high-value studio content.
Hyderabad Police Commissioner Anand said that portals like TamilMV, Tel Blasters, and Movierulz were identified during the investigation. He explained how these piracy sites earn money or get promotion through sponsors like online gaming and betting operators. Once leaked, pirated files spread further through torrent websites, Telegram channels, and illegal streaming platforms. The data of visitors to these sites is also collected and later used for fraud and other cybercrimes.
Film industry representatives welcomed the police action and promised full cooperation. Senior actors Chiranjeevi, Venkatesh, Nagarjuna, Nani, Telangana Film Development Corporation Chairman V. Venkata Ramana Reddy (Dil Raju), and many other members attended the meeting.
The Hyderabad Police action is seen as a strong step in protecting the Telugu film industry from piracy and cybercrime.
