The formation of new districts in Andhra Pradesh seems to have come to a halt. The central government had earlier directed the states to freeze villages, zones, districts, and borders till the completion of the census.
The Jagan Mohan Reddy government wants to divide the existing 13 districts in Andhra Pradesh into 26 districts.
Government sources are of the view that the possibility of dividing and formation of new districts in AP would take another year and a half with the recent Union government’s decision. The census in AP could not be completed due to the corona.
It is learned that the government has appointed special sub-committees to look into the formation of new districts in Andhra Pradesh.
