Millions of Indians are desperate to know how long this lockdown situation prevails and when will the COVID-19 cases reach their peak as they did in U.S.A, Italy, and Spain. So, everyone in India is wanting the government to flatten the COVID-19 curve as early as possible even they are aware that it is only possible with public awareness and cooperation.
The two proper mitigation plans that flatten the curve according to the scientists are testing and quarantine and social distancing to stop the spread which are the trending words we have been hearing for the past few weeks. If we succeed to identify one suspect in their preliminary stage of the virus infection, we might have saved a dozen individuals and at least 3 casualties.
Apart from these scientific measures, there are some draconian mitigation measures such as total lockdown of hotspots or even entire regions and strict implementation of health advisory (stay home, good hygiene, etc.), which can most effectively stop transmission and help flatten the curve. This is clear that the coordinated effort from both public and government is a must and should to flatten the curve.
Coming to the lockdown, China’s Wuhan province was completely under lockdown for 76 days to nullify the station that allowed them to reduce the new number of cases and few casualties and increase in the quality of the treatment. This is also evident in California’s bold efforts with ‘stay home’ which appears to be working to flatten the curve, as compared to New York and very few cases are reported afterward.
As a last and final step, protecting health care providers and facilitating access to critical medical and essential services is the crucial part to avoid community transmission along with the maintenance of the social distance.
So far, the virus caused seriousness in 15% of the infected and its mortality rate is 5%. This deadly virus cannot thrive without live human cells, so the best way to kill this virus is to stop it from spreading to new cells. Send a suspect to quarantine immediately, maintain social distance and proper hygiene, obey lockdown protocol, protect health care workers and provide proper infrastructure to battle down this ‘Mahammari-Virus’ and flatten the curve,
STAY HOME AND STOP THE SPREAD
