Telangana MLC, daughter of the CM KCR, Kalvakuntla Kavitha was accused of casting the fake vote in yesterday’s GHMC polls. The opposition Congress made it a big issue by submitting proofs of Kavitha having her voter enrolment in Nizamabad and casting her vote in Hyderabad.
The Telangana Congress leader Indira Shoban provided documented evidence after Kavitha casted her vote and shared the pictures on her social media. This created a massive uproar in the Telangana party circles where the women in question, Kavitha is yet to respond on the issue. On the other side, the Congress demanded the Election Commission to take necessary action on the MLC.
On Wednesday, Telangana BJP also took up this issue and had written to the Telangana State Election Commission (SEC) and complained against Kavitha. The Telangana SEC issued a clarification on the issue and stated that Kavitha has cancelled her vote in Nizamabad and applied for a new one in Hyderabad.
However, the reports on the media surfaced that Kavitha’s vote was still registered at Nizamabad. For this, the Telangana State Election Commission is yet to clarify. If the SEC website is running slow and yet to be updated, one could wonder how many fake votes would have been casted in the GHMC polls yesterday.
If that isn’t the case, the EC should come with a valid document to show that Kavitha has cancelled her vote in Nizamabad in time. Until then, the speculations and allegation will continue for sure.
