In a surprise move, the All-India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen, chief Asaduddin was first Opposition leader to appreciate Defence Research Development Organization (DRDO) scientists for making nation proud by “Mission Shakti” and put the nation in elite nation’s club alongwith US, Russia and China, for attaining anti-satellite missile technology capabilities in outer space.
However, in the same breadth, he refused to acknowledge the achievement of the Modi-led NDA government.
This raises doubts over his real intentions behind the statement. It is no secret that majority of the offices of defence establishments, including DRDO, fall part of his Hyderabad parliament constituency and obviously those thousands of employees residing are automatically become potential voters in his constituency.
Like many other Opposition parties, including the Congress, for Modi taking the credit for Indian scientists achievement. However, what he refused to acknowledge that can such a decision be taken without the ‘go ahead’ permission from the party in power of the day in the government?
He mere said;”DRDO’s success toay is testimony what this nation’s scientists against immense odds. My congratulations to them,” he tweeted.
“Now @PMOIndia after all buildup, you were just trying to appropriate DRDO success. We were expecting something more like tangible action against Pak,” he said in another tweet.
Prime Minister Modi on Wednesday announced that India had demonstrated anti-satellite missile capability by shooting down a live satellite, describing it as a rare achievement that puts the country in an exclusive club of space superpowers.
Former DRDO chief and decorated scientist Dr Saraswat said that India, in fact had attained this capability in 2012 itself, but for ‘test firing’ permission was not granted to their scientists to confirm our capabilities. In other words, he acknowledges that for such accomplishments by the Indian scientists need the support of government of the day, indirectly appreciating the PM Modi.
