A tense atmosphere prevailed in Telangana’s Jagityala as the farmers called for a collectorate siege in the name of Chalo Jagityala. However, on this occasion, the police prevented the maize farmers from going to the collectorate. This led to an altercation between the farmers and the police. The protestors blocked the roads expressing their anger at the Police’s aleteraction.. Slogans were raised against the government. With this the police on the other hand were heavily deployed near the Collectorate.
On the other side, the Police are house arresting Congress leaders everywhere in Jagityala district. Police are taking precautionary measures in the wake of Congress’ call for justice for maize farmers. The Congress chiefs along with the leaders of the peasant union were detained from the night.
Congress’ fire brand MLC Jeevan Reddy was placed under house arrest in the wake of this. Police were heavily deployed in front of his residence. Speaking on the occasion, Jeevan Reddy said that the aim of the CM KCR is to make a profit for the traders. Farmers were betrayed by CM KCR and the former were dying on the roads with hunger . Jeevan Reddy questioned whether there was any democracy in the state.
