The Telangana government’s move looks promising for the people of Hyderabad. Hyderabad Metro Development Authority’s initiative On the occasion of Vinayaka Chaviti on the 22nd of this month is praise worthy. The HMDA officials said that clay idols of Vinayaka will be provided to the people in Hyderabad free of cost. Within Greater Hyderabad limits a total of 50,000 clay Ganeshas will be distributed.
The government is giving away eco-friendly clay idols for free this year too with a motto to reduce the use of plaster of Paris in the city and spread awareness among people about environment protection. This year too the clay Ganapayas will be procured from the Telangana Pottery Association. In his way the pottery community will get income for them as well as the environment will be pollution free.
The immersion will take place in a total of 169 ponds, including the Hussain Sagar, in Greater Hyderabad. A total of 70,000 statues will be immersed. Along with the government, many organizations too are following the move voluntarily to increase the usage of clay ganapathis.
The most famous Khairatabad Mahaganapati statue in Telangana is still being made by the Khairatabad Ganesh festival committee. This year the Ganesha’s idol will be erected at a height of 9 feet and the festival will be celebrated low key in view of covid pandemic.
