In another boost to Andhra Pradesh’s growing reputation as India’s top investment destination, IT and Electronics Minister Nara Lokesh shared the story of Hindalco Industries’ upcoming ₹586-crore aluminium extrusion plant at Kuppam, Chittoor district.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter) as part of his “Andhra’s Investment Story” series, Minister Lokesh said the Hindalco project is a shining example of how Andhra Pradesh’s clear policies, proactive support, and execution speed are attracting global giants. He said the new plant will not only create 613 direct jobs but also generate hundreds of indirect employment opportunities in the region.
Lokesh highlighted that Hindalco, part of the Aditya Birla Group and one of the world’s leading aluminium producers, chose Andhra Pradesh because of its investor-friendly approach and strong industrial ecosystem. The upcoming facility will produce high-grade aluminium used in iPhone chassis, linking Andhra Pradesh directly to Apple’s global supply chain. Commercial operations are expected to begin by March 2027.
According to Lokesh, the project reflects the success of the state’s 2025–30 Electronics Component Manufacturing Policy, which ensures quick approvals and attractive incentives for industries. He pointed out that Kuppam’s location—just 120 km from Bengaluru and 200 km from Chennai—offers strategic advantages for logistics and connectivity. The area’s renewable energy base also supports Hindalco’s sustainability goals.
Calling the project a milestone for Andhra Pradesh’s high-value aluminium and precision components sector, Lokesh said it would transform Kuppam into a trusted electronics manufacturing hub. “When policy certainty meets world-class execution, Andhra Pradesh becomes the natural choice for global champions,” he said.
In a testimonial video shared by the Minister, Hindalco Managing Director Satish Pai praised Andhra Pradesh’s supportive administration, skilled workforce, and fast-track policy framework. “Kuppam is strategically located in South India’s electronics heartland. The logistics, talented workforce, and proactive government support made Andhra Pradesh the perfect choice for us,” he said.
Pai added that the state-level Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme played a key role in Hindalco’s decision. He also highlighted Andhra Pradesh’s ports, rail connectivity, and focus on renewable energy as major strengths. “Our sustainability goals align perfectly with the state’s vision. Andhra Pradesh supports our renewable energy and zero-waste initiatives. For us, people are important—and that’s why it’s Andhra Pradesh,” he said.
The announcement comes just ahead of the CII Partnership Summit 2025, where Andhra Pradesh is expected to unveil new industrial opportunities and policy initiatives. The Hindalco project not only strengthens the state’s role in global electronics manufacturing but also promises new opportunities for local suppliers, ancillary industries, and skilled youth in the region.
