High tensions prevailed in Pulikonda village in the Pathikonda zone of Kurnool district. There was a dispute during the counting. The villagers vandalized the police vehicles as the police lathi-charged the TDP activists. The election official declared that the YCP candidate had won while the TDP candidate was leading from the first round. TDP supporters in the village demanded that the counting be re-counted as there had been irregularities in the counting.
However, the Returning Officer did not agree. TDP supporters staged a protest in front of the polling station. Police baton-charged TDP supporters for not listening. Police shifted the ballot boxes to Pathikonda while the baton charge was going on. Villagers pelted stones at police vehicles as police lathi-charged TDP supporters who demanded a recount. Police vehicles were destroyed in the attack.
