The BC’s are comprised of more than half in the Andhra Pradesh population and originally they are the strongest vote bak for the TDP. Even in the past, when TDP lost general elections they were confined to a respectable position with the support of BC people.
But in 2019, surprisingly all these voters went YCP’s way leaving TDP in dismay. After that Jagan continued to play more skilfully by giving the BC’s much importance in the state such as ministries, nominated posts, contracts, ruling classes, etc.
Moving a step ahead he proposed the increment in BC reservations to 59.85% for the local body elections but the high court canceled these reservations and asked the government to restrict them to 50%.
Using this lone hiccup of Jagan’s government as the opportunity TDP leaders are slashing them that YSRCP has no love on the BC people otherwise they would have fought with the court for reservations.
They continue to allege that all this court drama is to please the BC voters before the local body elections.
So, in this high tension period for both Jagan and CBN as these voters play a decisive role in the upcoming local body elections so it is better to placate them before everything goes out of hand.
