The relentless heavy rains have caused humongous impact in Hyderabad and in the process many cars have been damaged and stalled due to the hydrostatic lock. Although weather department gave prior intimation of heavy outpouring rains, none of the citizens expected at such intensity. Apart from abrupt power cuts and water inundations at roads, apartment sites, parking lots etc, many have even lost their lives during these ill fated circumstances.
Most importantly water logging caused heavy damage to many four wheelers apart from two wheelers where electricals and wiring of the car are damaged due to the water seeping in. In certain cases, engines were at risk causing irreversible damage. This has erupted several people filing for insurance claims.
AV Padmanabha, Head – Motor OD Claims, Bajaj Allianz General Insurance, stated that, company has got several motor claim requests lately and these are predominantly related to vehicle submerging and vehicle breakdowns. Reportedly more insurance claims are possibly going to be accumulated once water levels subside and power supply is restored in all places.
