Depression in the Bay of Bengal, which is snowballing into a cyclonic storm and is being named as ‘Phani’ is menacingly moving towards the Tamil Nadu, according to Indian Meterological Department (IMD).
As a result, next 36 hours, heavy to very heavy rains are likely to lash the TN as well south coastal Andhra Pradesh districts from May 27. The cyclonic storm is likely to cross Kanyakumari.
However, its impact will have more adverse effect on TN coastal region, says a bulletin issued by the Visakhapatnam-based MeT office.
The MeT office has issued warnings to the fishermen not venture into the high seas due to the severe cyclonic storm.
