Vaccine programmes are generally known to be seen with 1000’s of people flocking at the site to get the shots.
On contrary to the regular immunisation drive, government came up with new rules to get the jab for Covid-19 vaccine. It ordered that each site, be it a school, clinic or government institutions—will be provided with anti-covid-19 shots limited to only 100 per day.
The health ministry has announced a set of SOP’s for taking up the initiative. Community halls and makeshift tents may be set up for vaccination at a later stage. Adverse events following immunisation’ (AEFI) are one among them that is prepping up all the required infrastructure and amenities as ordained by the health ministry.
According to the SOP protocol shared with the states on Thursday each vaccination site will have five vaccination officers, comprising a guard and three dedicated rooms for waiting, vaccination and observation. Also it is to be remembered that after getting the inoculated, it is compulsory for the individual to wait for further screening for 30 minutes.
One of the immunisation officers, Dr Rajani who attended the two day vaccination workshop, said given the limitations caused by social distancing it would have more safe injection practice for the citizens as only 13-14 will be vaccinated per hour. She also cleared the confusion about the new rules saying that, only one person should enter at a time at the vaccination site while multiple people can stay at observation and waiting rooms.
