It’s known that earlier Serum Institute head Adar Poonawalla expressed alarming situation on India’s preparedness to meet out the financial demands to provide Covid vaccine to every citizen of the country.
Yesterday with regards to this, the health ministry Secretary Rajesh Bhushan strongly condemned the statememt of Rs 80,000 crore fund requirement put forth by Poonawalla for the distribution of Covid-19 vaccine in India and asserted to be incorrect.
While speaking to news agencies in New Delhi, Bushan stated that, “We do not agree by the calculation of Rs 80,000 crore. The government has made a national committee on vaccine experts and five meetings have taken place till now. In these meetings, we have mulled over the process of Covid-19 vaccine distribution and the amount required for it in terms of prioritisation of population and the staggered immunisation for this prioritisation is available with the government,”
Poonawalla said in a series of tweets on 26th that it’s a next big challenge to have funds of atleast 80000 crores to procure and develop vaccine within one year. He said it has to be tackled well by the country and ensure that the government plans and guides manufacturers to carryout the needs.
