After the Jagan Mohan Reddy government got a favorable verdict most recently from the supreme court in the issue of Ramesh Hospitals, everyone thought the latter would be more careful in taking the crucial decisions as a part of the administration but they are back to square one in no time.
It is known that a special inquiry team was specially appointed by the AP government to review all the decisions taken by the Telugu Desam Party government. Now, the AP High court issued a stay on the SIT investigation after a dramatic session of the argument.
Based on the report given by the cabinet subcommittee, the Jagan’s government ordered the formation of an SIT with ten police officers for investigation. The team was also given a status that is equal to a police station. Immediately, TDP senior leaders Varla Ramaiah and Aalapati Rajendra Prasad have approached the high court challenging the orders of the state government.
The lawyers on the side of the petitioners argued that these decisions would set a bad example and promote n infectious culture in the future and also asserted that it is unconstitutional to give police station status to the Special Investigation Team. The court duly noted that the FIR would be investigated after it was registered, but that the AP government had deliberately set up the SIT to file cases.
On the other side, the lawyer from the government argued that the government has complete authority to order investigations on the previous government’s decisions and can appoint any kind of investigation team. They said the SIT was set up as per the report of the cabinet sub-committee.
Actually, it was previously reported that the CM was directed to appoint the SIT as per the directions of the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly during the Assembly sessions. So, after hearing all this argument, the High Court issued a stay on SIT.
