The floods that burdened Hyderabad due to the incessant and excessive rains, have wreaked a lot of havoc in the city, and caused major property damage. As a result, the government requested everyone to donate to the cause, and whoever was in a position, did donate some amount to the Chief Minister Relief Fund.
A total of Rs. 550 Crores have been allotted by the Telangana government towards this cause, and since the government does not have those many funds, others came to the rescue. The government is even being very generous when it comes to these donations to whoever needs it.
On the other hand, the government also released a statement, stating that a day’s pay from all government employees would be cut, and that it would be given to those who need it. This is not sitting well with government employees, who are now lashing out at the government for taking such a decision, without consulting them first. They also said that it is better for the government to take donations from whoever is ready to give them, but that it is not right for them to cut a day’s pay from everyone.
When the government initially announced about this, there was a lot of displeasure expressed from all government employees. In order to cool them down, the government even gave the day after Dussehra as a holiday. However, the employees are still not cool with a day’s pay cut. The main reason for this is the fact that these employees did not get paid properly for 3 months during the lockdown.
The government promised that it would pay back these dues slowly and gradually. With the government now once again cutting their pay, all of these employees are feeling that the government is taking away their money from them, all over again.
Major Job Unions are not in the position to speak up against this, because of which smaller unions are fighting against the government’s decision now.
