Panchayati Raj senior officer Gopala Krishna Dwivedi recently dropped off a letter at the SEC of Andhra Pradesh, the contents of which are shocking everyone. In the letter, Dwivedi stated that he is not in the position to cooperate with the local body elections, and has requested for himself to be exempted from it.
Given that Dwivedi previously worked as the Chief Electoral Officer of Andhra Pradesh, as recently as in 2019, during the AP general elections, everyone is now shocked to see why a man such as him is not willing to cooperate with the local body elections. During his tenure as the CEO, Dwivedi became very famous for strictly abiding by the rules, and for keeping the then CM Chandrababu on his tiptoes.
Citing electoral code, Dwivedi made sure that the Chandrababu government had no powers for nearly three months, ahead of the general elections. Dwivedi also did not let Chandrababu function as the CM anymore, in the months leading up to the elections, and ran the state via the CS. Imagine the caliber of this man if he was capable of not only taking care of the entire elections, but also being able to run with the help of the CS!
For his work, Dwivedi was also awarded the Best Chief Electoral Officer, and was even given Rs. 1 Lakh, in recognition of his work. Given that this man knows how the SEC works, with his previous experience, and the strict methods that he follows, when it comes to abiding by rules, it has been shocking for everyone to see that this is the same man who is now not willing to cooperate with the SEC, for the local body elections.
It is being said that Dwivedi is under serious pressure, which is why he is not willing to cooperate with the SEC, and is perhaps said to have acknowledged that his non-cooperation is wrong, but is helpless with it.
