After 12 months of efforts and policy reforms at the national level, Google Cloud has decided to invest ₹1.33 lakh crore in Andhra Pradesh, generating employment for over 2 lakh people. This is the first time India has received $15 billion in FDI from a single company.
Just as Microsoft’s presence in Hyderabad transformed the tech landscape, Google Cloud’s new hub in Visakhapatnam is set to be a game-changer for Andhra Pradesh’s future. The state government is focused on decentralized development, improving every region from Srikakulam to Chittoor.
Google Cloud will establish India’s first and the world’s second-largest AI hub in Visakhapatnam. The data center will strengthen rural economies and support agriculture, healthcare, and education. The company will also set up a submarine cable system to enhance broadband speed and connect India directly to international networks.
With AI technologies at the hub, services like Google Search, YouTube, Gmail, Ads, and Cloud will be delivered globally from Visakhapatnam. This project positions Visakhapatnam as an international connectivity center and highlights Andhra Pradesh’s growing importance on the global tech map.
Attempts to delay or block such investments by political opposition parties are seen as counterproductive. The state government’s efforts have successfully secured one of the largest global tech investments in India, showcasing Andhra Pradesh as a hub for international business and digital growth.
