It is known that during the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) elections, CM KCR has been assuring many things to the city dwellers for weeks. The key among them is the free fresh drinking water supply. The Telangana government has issued guidelines on the same. Accordingly, the water board will expedite the implementation of the free water supply scheme
From now on, 20,000 liters of drinking water per month will be supplied free of cost to households in Greater Hyderabad. Consumers coming under the drinking water scheme are required to submit their Aadhaar card along with other identity cards to the water board authorities.
There are about 10.6 lakh tap connections under GHMC. This includes up to 10 lakh domestic (household) connections. There are about 45,000 connections in the commercial and industrial category. With that, 9,84,940 households within GHMC limits are going to get benefited with the scheme.
“It is my dream to provide drinking water to the people of Hyderabad 24 hours a day,” KCR said at a recent GHMC election campaign rally. CM said that after winning the last GHMC election, he did an extensive study with the mayor and corporators. Drinking water will now be available 24 hours a day in Hyderabad for the next few years.
