On the 11 th day of festives, this year’s Hyderabad Ganesh immersion went off peacefully amid high security. On Tuesday less crowd were present as compared to the last year process. Although initially the citizens flouted social distancing norms, the Ganesh immersion procession was monitored with special security team on Wednesday.
Reportedly, till 9.30pm, 4,800 idols were immersed in Hussain Sagar on Tuesday and procession of over 250 idols were completed till date at numerous tank bunds in Cyberabad and 600 idols at Rachakonda area.
Some people have not performed any Ganesh immersion on Tuesday citing it as a religious sentiment, where police commissioner Anjani kumar expected it to happen today. Few more individuals in private vehicles came by to complete the procession.
The security was beefed up to facilitate smooth process, however one drowned in the lake. Later 1500 cops were deployed to control the situation amid the Covid pandemic. The Commissioner along with other subordinates kept a close tab on the immersion procedure through boating in the Lake while sporting a life jacket.
The commissioner stated that no untowardly accidents have happened and the immersion ran peacefully.
The Shobha Yatra (grand immersion procession) of the Balapur Ganesh idol was over in the morning at 11:30 a.m and the nine feet tall Khairatabad Ganesh idol immersion completed in the evening at Hussain Sagar lake yesterday.
