Ram Charan is making a grand comeback on the big screens with his latest political action drama Game Changer. The film released in theatres worldwide today and the expectations soared high, considering that this is Charan’s immediate next solo film after RRR. Let us have a look at what the film has stored for the audience.
Story:
Game changer is all about how an angry young man turns into an honest IAS officer and tries to bring change in the political system. The movie revolves around how he plays mind games with a crooked minister aspiring to become chief minister of Andhra Pradesh after his dad’s death. Is he successful in doing so? What does he have to lose in this battle? How is his life inter-connected to the politics of Andhra Pradesh is to be seen on the big screen
On screen performances:
Charan shouldered the whole movie by donning two characters, one as Appanna (Dad’s role) and also as Ram Nandan IAS. Charan as Appanna is one of his best performances after Chittibabu in Rangasthalam. Charan as Ram Nandan is as usual good and he is in his elements.
Surya as Mopidevi stole the show after Charan. He portrayed his antagonist character along with a tint of humor with ease.
Rest of the star cast like Kiara Advani, Srikanth, Anjali, Samuthirakani, Vennela Kishore, Jayaram, Naveen Chandra, Sunil did their part well
Off screen Performances:
Shankar after Indian 2 is partly back with Game changer. It looked like he was in his elements in some scenes and one could see vintage Shankar back for at least one hour of the movie. He could not maintain it through out the movie because of poor writing especially the first hour and last 30 mins of the movie. He could have handled the love story and entertainment part much better.
Thaman is the heart of the movie. He gave excellent BGM through out the movie and elevated the scenes one notch above.
Editing should have been crisp as one feels the movie is big dragged. Production values are top notch and you can see that in some scenes and songs like Dhop and Jaragandi.
Whats Hot.?
- Charan’s performance
- Thaman’s BGM
- Surya Peformance
- Dhop Song
- 20 mins pre and post interval
- High Production Values
Whats Not.?
- Poor writing in parts
- Length of the movie
- Lack of entertainment in Second Half
Verdict:
Game changer is a socio political drama that is neither awesome nor bad. Shankar after the debacle of Indian 2 has taken some good measures in the making of Game changer. He showed his prowess partly in the film and one will enjoy vintage Shankar’s direction in those scenes. Overall, you can watch Game changer once this sankranthi for Charan and Surya’s performances. But please keep your expectations in check.
