The Joe Biden government in the US has taken its biggest step yet toward declaring victory over the Covid-19 pandemic. The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) on Thursday informed people, those who are fully vaccinated, not to wear masks outdoors and can avoid wearing them indoors in most places.
By doing this, the CDC hopes more Americans will be vaccinated against the virus, also said fully immunized people will not need to follow the physical distance norms in most places.
CDC Director Rochelle Walensky said the new guidance was based on an acute reduction in cases, the spread of vaccines to younger people and vaccine effectiveness against Covid-19 variants.
Following the announcement on Thursday, President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris arrived before reporters at the Rose Garden of the White House without wearing masks.
“If you’re fully vaccinated and can take your mask off, you’ve earned the right to do something that Americans are known for all around the world: greeting others with a smile,” Joe Biden said.
