In a significant push to transform school education, the Government of Andhra Pradesh has launched a forward-looking initiative that places teachers at the center of global learning. Moving beyond infrastructure upgrades, the state is now focusing on enhancing teaching quality by exposing educators to international standards and practices.
As part of this initiative, 37 teachers who received the State Best Teacher Award 2025 have been selected for an International Exposure Visit to Singapore. This program reflects the vision of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, who aims to make students in the state globally competitive, and the proactive leadership of Education Minister Nara Lokesh.
The first phase of the program is a five-day intensive training being held from May 4 to May 8, 2026, at the National Institute of Education, Singapore. Designed around the theme “Designing Learning, Inspiring Thinking,” the training focuses on equipping teachers with modern pedagogical skills and global teaching methodologies.
The selection process for the program has been strictly merit-based and transparent, ensuring fair representation across different roles in the education system. The delegation includes 10 headmasters, 18 school assistants, 4 principals, and 5 physical directors. Notably, 17 of the participants are women, highlighting inclusive participation.
During the program, teachers are undergoing structured sessions from 9 AM to 4 PM, covering a wide range of topics such as managing education in uncertain times, understanding Singapore’s school system, instructional design techniques, and fostering critical thinking among students. A key highlight of the visit is a field exposure to Yishun Secondary School, where participants are observing innovative classroom practices and student engagement strategies firsthand.
This initiative aims to redefine the role of teachers from mere instructors to facilitators of learning who encourage curiosity, analytical thinking, and collaboration. By gaining hands-on exposure to digital pedagogy, classroom management techniques, and experiential learning models, teachers are expected to bring back valuable insights that can be adapted to local classrooms.
The government is also planning the next phase of this global learning initiative, under which 29 teachers will be sent to the University of Turku, known for its excellence in education. This step further strengthens Andhra Pradesh’s efforts to align its education system with global benchmarks.
Importantly, the impact of this initiative will extend beyond the participating teachers. Upon their return, they will implement a structured post-training action plan in their respective schools and act as mentors to fellow educators. This approach ensures that the knowledge gained is effectively disseminated across the state, creating a wider ripple effect in the education ecosystem.
Aligned with the goals of the National Education Policy (NEP 2020), the program underlines the government’s commitment to nurturing students as global citizens. Officials from Samagra Shiksha emphasized that this is not just an exposure visit, but the beginning of a qualitative transformation in the state’s education system.
By investing in teacher capacity building and global exposure, Andhra Pradesh is taking a decisive step toward building a future-ready education system, where classrooms are dynamic, innovative, and globally connected.
