In a major crackdown on food adulteration, Hyderabad City Police seized substandard and adulterated food items worth nearly Rs. 2 lakh during a special inspection drive in Mailardevpally on Tuesday. The surprise raids were carried out on April 8, 2026, targeting food manufacturing units involved in the production and sale of sweets, bakery products, snacks, and other edible items.
According to Hyderabad City Police, the operation was conducted within the limits of Mailardevpally Police Station as part of an intensified drive against unsafe and adulterated food products. During the inspections, officials found low-quality and suspected adulterated food items in four different units, raising serious concerns over food safety and public health in the area.
The units where the seizure took place include Maruthi Foods in Kattedan, Indian Bakery and Sweets House, Krishna Food Products in Laxmiguda, and BS Food Products, also located in Laxmiguda. Authorities said these units were allegedly storing or manufacturing food items that did not meet required quality standards.
Police officials confirmed that cases have been registered against the owners of the four units under relevant legal provisions. Further investigation is now underway to determine the extent of violations and whether more such units are involved in selling unsafe food products in Hyderabad.
The latest raid has once again highlighted the growing concern over food adulteration in Hyderabad, especially in local manufacturing hubs where sweets, bakery items, and packaged snacks are produced in bulk. Officials are expected to continue similar enforcement drives in the coming days to ensure food safety and prevent public exposure to harmful or poor-quality products.
The seizure is likely to trigger stronger checks across food production units in the city, with authorities warning manufacturers and sellers against compromising on food quality standards. Consumers have also been advised to stay alert and report suspicious food products to the concerned departments.
