A huge fire exploded in the manufacturing unit of a pharmaceutical company, located in the outskirts of Hyderabad, at around 7 pm on June 19, Saturday.
Sources report that it took 9 to 10 hours for fire department officials to dampen the fire. Although the fire set ablaze the surroundings, 7 to 8 workers on the premises, managed to escape the fire and no casualties have occured. The extent of property damage and the root cause of the accident is being estimated by fire officials, said Kukatpally District Fire Officer, Sudhakar Rao.
The untowardly mishap happened at Alphabet, a pharma company situated in Jaganguda town of Shameerpet, in the outskirts of Hyderabad, close to the Karimnagar Highway on the Outer Ring Road. The fire control room said that they got a call with respect to the fire accident at around 7 pm on Saturday, and soon after the Cyberabad police and fire authorities arrived at the spot.
Shameerpet Station Fire Officer, Poorna Kumar, addressing a media portal said that the fire originally broke out in the assembling unit of the plant and proceeded to spread to the storeroom/distribution center adjacent to it, which triggered an enormous fire.
20 fire personnel were called to the incident area to extinguish the burning fire, along with three fire engines from Jeedimetla, Kukatpally, and Shameerpet. Around 70 water tankers were utilised to control the fire since last night.
