In an attempt to support auto rickshaw drivers who were left jobless after the lockdown, Finance Minister T Harish Rao on Thursday said the region administration had planned to give work to all the auto-rickshaw drivers in Siddipet constituency under MNREGS for 100 days or till the lockdown is lifted.
Mahatma Gandhi Employment Guarantee Act 2005 (MNREGS) is an Indian labour law and social security measure that works with a mission to guarantee the ‘right to work’ and ensures livelihood security of people in rural areas.
The Minister, who disseminated a pack of essential products to 312 families during a program in the area, said Grama Panchyat sarpanchs and secretaries of that respective area will issue job cards to all auto rickshaw drivers in the constituency. Since open transportation has been restricted due to coronavirus pandemic, Rao said the drivers were grappling without a penny in these dire situations.
He called upon the auto rickshaw drivers, who were jobless, to approach their respective gram panchayat head. Rao stated that they were providing a pack of essential items and groceries as a prompt action to extend support and said that they would unquestionably bolster the auto works in all ways.
Earlier, the Minister has introduced paddy obtainment centres at Vardarajpur town of Markook Mandal and Singotam town of Gajwel Mandal. He has additionally received funds to Chief Minister relief fund (CMRF) from different contributors.
