The FIFA World Cup 2022 has had its first major shock as Saudi Arabia dealt a massive shock to one of the tournament favorites Argentina.
The opening game of the group between Argentina and Saudi Arabia started off on an expected note with Argentina drawing the first blood with the opening goal from Messi. But Saudi quickly turned the tide around in the second half and later went on to win the game 2-1.
Argentina started the tournament as one of the favorites but this shocking defeat to Saudi puts their qualification to the next round in doubt.
Argentina will next face Mexico and Poland in the group. The onus is on the 2-time champions to win the coveted trophy in what is Leo Messi’s last and final world cup.
