Indian Grandmaster Praggnanandhaa, whose age is 18, has become the world’s youngest player to reach the FIDE World Cup finals. Hailing from Tamil Nadu’s Chennai, he also emerged as the third-youngest individual to qualify for the Tournament.
However, Praggnanandhaa’s acclaimed journey at the 2023 FIDE Chess World Cup in Baku, Azerbaijan got ended as a runner after world number one Magnus Carlsen defeated the Indian player.
By ending as a runner, Praggnanandhaa has earned a massive sum of USD 80,000 (approximately Rs 66,13,444) while Carlsen is taking home USD 110K (approximately Rs 90,93,551) for winning the prestigious title.
Although Praggnanandhaa ended in second place, he made the entire country proud. Several celebs in India took to their respective social media platforms to laud the youngest chess player.
