Amid this COVID-19 pandemic, fake news is being evolved out of nowhere by some random persons or organizations who are making the people believe that the government is giving them some compensatory fund and are stealing their personal details.
One such news has been seen in WhatsApp forwards in which it was mentioned that under Corona Sahayata Yojana, the center is giving Rs.1000 to each and every person in the country and they have also provided the link to register by entering one’s personal details.
However, the fact-checking unit of the Press Information Bureau (PIB) called the news fraudulent and clarified that there is no truth in the widely circulating message on WhatsApp.
A few days ago, it was claimed on social media that the Department of Telecom is giving free internet to all users till May 3, 2020, when the lockdown is scheduled to end, to enable them to work from home.
The way centre is preventing the spread of this deadly virus has proved to be a fertile breeding ground for different types of fake news and misinformation as they took advantage of the helplessness of the government to provide a better government in this economic crisis.
