The MIM party and the TRS party were seemingly at war with each other, with its members criticising the members of the TRS on several occasions, notably during the GHMC election campaign. Members of the MIM party even criticised and passed snide remarks at KCR and KTR.
Considering this, everyone thought that the MIM party would give a strong competition for the posts of mayor and deputy mayor, but party shifted – or rather proved, its loyalties, during the election of the mayor and the deputy mayor. While the MIM did announce its candidates for the two posts, in the end, the party voted for TRS, supporting them and enabling them to win both the Mayor and Deputy Mayor posts.
The members of the Bharatiya Janata Party had previously spoken about this secret alliance between the TRS and the MIM, but the parties’ outward behaviour had gotten everyone fooled. There are speculations that strong agreements have been struck between both the parties, which is why the MIM chose to give away both the posts so easily.
On the other hand, several political analysts are wondering how the TRS has continued to choose MIM as an ally, even after the latter threatened to demolish the statues of PV Narasimha Rao and NTR.
