Venkatarami Reddy, the President of the Government Employees Union, had a lot of things to say about the SEC conducting the local body elections during this time, amid the risk of anyone contacting Coronavirus still being high.
After the Supreme Court‘s verdict today, though, about the local body elections, Reddy has something else to say entirely. Until yesterday, Reddy was very clear that no one from the employees’s union will work against their will, and the SEC should also only get their work done by those who are willing to work voluntarily. Reddy said that the lives of employees are more important than the local elections. He even said that masks are not enough to stop the spread of coronavirus, and that only a vaccine can do that.
Reddy even said that the constitution has given everyone their own set of rights, even to the extent of killing someone if you thought that they were killing you. This statement was made on Saturday, and on Sunday, Reddy said that he generally made that statement, and that it was not directed towards the SEC, Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar. Reddy accused that several media houses were intentionally turning his statements around, for their political advantage.
In his statement to the media today, Reddy said that the SEC should exclude those whose health is not well, and can take the help of all other employees He even said that he never said that no employee will not work for the SEC, in support of the local elections. It is indeed very interesting to see how drastically Reddy’s statements have changed following the SC’s verdict.
