The Enforcement Directorate has summoned Bollywood star actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in connection with the Panama papers.
As per reports, the 48-year-old actress will be questioned over allegations of stashing wealth abroad. She has reportedly asked for more time. The daughter-in-law of Amitabh Bachchan had submitted records on the foreign payments under investigation. It is heard that the probe agency wants to record her statement now.
The ED started investigating alleged forex violations in 2017. The agency had given notices to the Bachchan family, asking them to present their foreign remittances since 2004 under the Liberalised Remittance Scheme (LRS) of the Reserve Bank of India.
The reports revealed that over 300 Indians are named in the Panama Papers leak case. According to reports, the leaked documents were originally obtained by German newspaper Suddeutsche Zeitung.
On the work front, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was last seen in ‘Fanney Khan’ in 2018. She will next be seen in Mani Ratnam’s ambitious historical fiction drama ‘Ponniyin Selvan.’
