After the successes of Love Today and Dragon, Pradeep Ranganathan stars in his latest film Dude. Mamitha Baiju, known for Premaalu, plays the heroine. Let’s take a look at how this movie, released in theaters today, fares.
Story:
Gagan (Pradeep Ranganathan) faces failure in love. Kundan (Mamitha Baiju) is the daughter of Adikesavalu (Sharath Kumar), the Minister of Animal Husbandry. Gagan has feelings for her, but he initially rejects his cousin’s love. Amidst several dramatic events, Gagan eventually falls for his cousin and openly tells her father. Adikesavalu happily agrees to their marriage, and Gagan and Kundan get married. But along the way, problems arise, why did Kundan oppose the marriage at first? What happens after the wedding? What sacrifices does Gagan make? Who is Parthu (Hrudhu Haroon)? The rest of the story unfolds from these events.
What about on-screen performance?
Pradeep Ranganathan, familiar to Telugu audiences from Love Today and Dragon of Return, impresses once again with his performance.
He combines stylish elements, comic timing, and strong emotional scenes effectively. His portrayal, with variations according to situations, stands out.
Mamitha Baiju shines as the heroine, delivering a commendable performance. She is quite good in her role and the best part is her expressions which are top notch.
The supporting cast also performs well. Sharath Kumar excels in his role, handling serious situations with perfect timing. Neha Shetty’s performance is noteworthy, and other key actors like Rohini, Satya, and the rest also do justice to their characters.
Director Keerthiswaran handles comedy scenes well, especially making Sharath Kumar’s character humorous. Hrudhu Haroon’s character also registers well with the audience. Overall, the movie balances emotional and comedic sequences effectively.
What about off-screen talents?
While Pradeep Ranganathan’s character and related scenes are well-designed, director Keerthiswaran could not create the heroine’s role as engagingly.
Additionally, some key sequences lacked a compelling narrative. Strengthening the secondary characters and main storylines could have improved the film further.
Though director Keerthiswaran impresses with his direction, the screenplay does not fully exploit the potential of the story.
