Dubai’s ruler, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al-Maktoum, has been ordered by London High Court to provide a British record of over $733 million to settle a custody battle with his UK based sixth wife, Princess Haya Bint Al Hussein over their two children.
Apparently, this is one of the most costly divorce settlements in British history. The High Court judge said the Dubai ruler must make ongoing payments for their children, Jalila and Zayed, by a bank guarantee of 290 million pounds.
As per reports, the settlement includes 11 million pounds a year to cover security costs for Princess Haya and the children while they are minors.
The judge said: “She is not asking for an award for herself other than for security” and to compensate her for the possessions she lost as a result of the marital breakdown.
The expensive financial deal is the latest development in a legal battle that began when Haya fled to Britain in April 2019, worrying about her safety after her dating affair with one of her bodyguards came to light.
