A dry run of the Covid-19 vaccination drive will be organised in four states in India to test the planned operations ahead of vaccine launch aimed in January. A dry run is a specialised testing process where the effects of a likely failure are mitigated to a great extent.
The dry runs of the inoculation drive will be conducted out today (28 December) and tomorrow (29 December) in Punjab, Assam, Andhra Pradesh and Gujarat. There will be no vaccine utilised in the testing process. Experts will only check the feasibility of the plan that has real time monitoring via Co- Win app. Five sites in two districts each are used simultaneously for two days continuously.
All the required temperature, adverse effect monitoring, vaccine storage capacity, it’s viability etc are checked in the process. Till date Indian government has not given a green signal to any vaccine. Nevertheless Oxford-Aztrazeneca is strongly contending to get the approval in the neck to neck competition. It is indeed the forerunner and anticipating to produce by January.
