Several members of the TRS have won unanimously in the ongoing MLC nominations. The elections for the seats are supposed to take place in December, but with as many as 6 candidates winning unanimously, there is no need for any elections for 6 seats. Three TRS candidates, Kalvakuntla Kavitha, Patnam Mahender Reddy and Shambipur Raju were elected unanimously on Wednesday, while three more TRS candidates, Pochampally Srinivas Reddy, K.Narayan Reddy and K.Damodar Reddy were elected unanimously on Thursday.
Only independent candidates filed their nominations against these members. The Congress party is contesting in only two seats, while the BJP has stayed out of the elections. Independent candidates are mostly withdrawing their nominations, causing the members of the TRS to win unanimously.
With the TRS winning unanimously, doubts are arising on how as many as 6 members won unanimously, with reports suggesting that the TRS members are offering good cash to these independent candidates to withdraw their nominations. If the independent candidates are refusing to do so, then police cases are being registered against them, stating that they have forged the signatures of other political members.
