Karthi who has lost his market in Telugu recently scored a huge blockbuster with Khaidi. The film went onto become the highest grosser in Karthi’s career. Distributors pocketed in huge profits with this flick. After Khaidi, within a couple of months, Karthi’s next film Donga has hit the silver screens. The movie which was directed by Jeetu Joseph of Drushyam fame however failed to attract the audiences.
Donga released on December 20th amidst huge competition in Telugu. The movie has got average ratings. Jeetu Joseph, who did magic with Drushyam, this time has failed to thrill the audiences. Donga has been getting mediocre results. Even the combo of Karthi and Jyothika couldn’t save the movie.
Riding on the huge success of Khaidi, Karthi’s Donga has done a business of around 3.7 Crores in the Telugu states. However the film over the weekend has collected a mere 69 lakhs from Telugu. This is not even 22 percent. With the weekend got over, trade analysts are predicting that Donga will end up as a huge disaster.
So, Karthi is having a mixed year. While Khaidi is a blockbuster hit, Donga has failed to reach the audiences expectations. Huge competition at the box office is another reason for these low collections.
