Last year, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy got Nilam Sawhney’s term as the Chief Secretary of the state extended by 6 months at a stretch. Back then, the CM followed protocols and dropped in a letter to the Center, 3 months prior to Sawhney’s term expiration, for an extension. However, this time, Jagan has not followed the protocols.
Jagan has dropped in a letter for the extension of Adityanath Das’s tenure as the CS, by six months. Only, this time, Jagan wrote the letter to the center two months before Das’s tenure expiration on June 30, 2021.
With this action on Jagan’s part, everyone has now come to believe that perhaps Jagan is not serious about Das’s term extension as the CS, and wrote the letter just for the sake of it. These speculations are gaining fuel, considering that Jagan was careful to write a letter to the center for Sawhney’s term extension, three months in prior last time, but not now.
It is now being said that the Centre would not approve Jagan’s request and that Das will have to retire as the CS on June 30. This is causing everyone to believe that perhaps Jagan is not interested in Das continuing as the CS.
