The Telugu Film Industry which started to extend its wings to other states with unique subjects beings made into films is being halted by this COVID-19 induced lockdown. No film has made its way to the theatre since March 13th and this situation will continue for the next two months as well.
Even after the government permits the theatres to run, the makers will think twice to proceed with the release as the fear of COVID-19n won’t go away that soon. In the meanwhile, this 2020 seems to be a maiden over for Tollywood with no films to make.
The situation looks very grim and the big producers like Suresh Babu and Allu Aravind are in an opinion that the theatres cannot be opened till the end of this year and in that situation, many theatres will get closed and the producers will also face the financial heat if no films get released for the entire year.
On the other side, the OTT platforms are offering win-win deals for the producers but they are not going with the offers because the direct OTT release will affect the morale of small producers.
Already many small films which are about to get shot before the lockdown were canceled and the Tollywood’s trade won’t stay healthy with only a few big films on line. So, 2020 is going to be a disastrous year for the Tollywood unless a miracle happens.
